Introduction
To get the most out of your hair extensions, proper care is essential. When maintained correctly and paired with the right products, our extensions can last for years. However, neglecting recommended products or aftercare instructions can result in damage and significantly reduce their lifespan.
Washing & Cleaning
To keep your extensions looking their best, regular cleansing is key. We recommend washing them once a week using warm water and a high-quality shampoo for normal hair. Follow with a moisturizing conditioner, leaving it in for 5–10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
- Gently towel-dry the hair.
- Finish drying with a blow dryer on a low or medium heat setting.
- Once dry, brush gently from the ends upward using a soft-bristle or loop brush.
If you remove your extensions before washing, we recommend applying a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask and placing the extensions in a sealed plastic bag overnight.
For a quick refresh between washes, a dry shampoo (available at most major pharmacies) is a great alternative.
Brushing
Because your extensions are attached to your natural hair, gentle brushing is critical.
- Always use a loop or extension brush specifically designed for bonded extensions.
- Hold the hair at the root to avoid putting stress on the bonds.
- Avoid pulling or tugging to prevent damage to your natural hair and the extensions.
Drying
Before detangling, apply a leave-in conditioning spray.
- Use a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle, avoiding the bonds.
- Ensure all bonds are fully dried to prevent slippage or damage.
For a sleek, professional finish:
- Section the hair.
- Blow-dry using a round brush with soft bristles, avoiding contact with bonds.
- Finish with a high-quality straightening iron.
You may use heated styling tools such as straighteners, curling irons, or crimpers—but always apply a heat protection spray beforehand. Styling products like serums, gels, and hairsprays are safe, but avoid applying them directly to the bonded areas.
Heated Styling
Natural hair and extensions can both be damaged by excessive heat.
- Avoid overheating, which can cause dryness, brittleness, and split ends.
- Always use a heat protectant spray.
- Lightly dampen hair before styling for added protection.
- Take extra care when using curling wands, straighteners, or dryers to avoid direct heat on bonds or tips.
Colouring & Chemical Processing
All of our hair is 100% virgin and unprocessed, so it can accept color. However, improper coloring can damage the hair’s cuticle and cause breakage.
If coloring:
- Consult a professional colorist for best results.
- If doing it yourself, use only high-quality products and follow instructions carefully.
- Do not exceed recommended processing times.
- Always apply an after-color treatment to help restore the cuticle.
Weft Maintenance
Each weft is doubly secured—both glued and sewn—for maximum durability.
- Avoid applying any chemicals (like dyes or bleach) to the weft area, as it may compromise the adhesive.
- Use warm—not hot—water when washing.
- When blow-drying, use a low heat setting, especially near the weft.
- Do not cut the weft into smaller sections. If you must, reseal the edges by sewing them to prevent shedding.
Curly Hair Maintenance
- Do not brush curly hair.
- Lightly spray with water and use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb made for curls.
- Apply a few drops of lightweight serum or argan oil.
- Avoid greasy or heavy products—they attract dirt and cause matting.
Closure Maintenance
Closures are delicate and require special handling to prevent damage and hair loss (also known as “balding”).
- Avoid coloring or bleaching closures—they are more fragile than wefts.
- Never scratch, tug, or brush roughly.
- Do not apply product directly to the closure base.
- Avoid excessive washing or vigorous handling.
- Comb gently from ends to roots, supporting the base to avoid tension.
Each hair on a closure is individually knotted into the base and secured with adhesive. Mishandling can cause the knots to loosen, leading to irreversible hair loss in the closure area.
